A word from the director of somerset stonemasons…
"Hi, I’m Paul Roddan, the owner of Somerset Stonemasons. I qualified in Historic Building Conservation from Bournemouth University, privileged to of trained at the renowned Weymouth College Masonry Department, where my passion and skills in stonemasonry were first developed.
My practical experience began as a building conservator, working on the restoration of churches, listed buildings, private residences, gardens, and monuments of all ages. Later, I joined one of the UK’s most prestigious stone firms as a banker mason, where I honed my skills in creating everything from coping stones and dressed ashlar to complex tracery, fireplaces, carvings, and letter cutting.
I regularly compete in national and international stone carving competitions and create bespoke sculptures on commission. I also wear another hat as the organiser of the Wells Stone Carving Festival.
I take great pride in our work and the services we provide, ensuring our clients have the peace of mind that what we create today will stand the test of time for hundreds of years to come."
